Misinformation Vulnerability

Public discussion continues to be dominated by lab leak narratives and political agendas - discourse that is often conspiratorial or speculative. Misinformation actively hinders our ability to prepare, detect, and respond to the next pandemic threat.

Misinformation Vulnerability

In late June, the Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO), a group of independent experts convened by the World Health Organization (WHO), published an assessment of the origins of COVID.

Undermining trust in science and public health institutions also hinders the development and uptake of life-saving vaccines and other medical interventions. This leaves us more vulnerable to future pandemics.

The amplification of conspiracy theories about the origin of COVID has promoted a dangerously flawed understanding of pandemic risk.
